About Replayowl
Replayowl is an open source session replay tool that records what visitors do on a website and plays it back as they saw it. Page loads in the same tab within 30 minutes are merged into one session with no fixed length, and console errors, uncaught exceptions and rejected promises are marked on the timeline with stack traces. Sessions can be searched by user ID, page, duration, device, errors or rage clicks.
The recorder is 7.8 KB gzipped with no runtime dependencies and is added with one script tag. Masking happens in the visitor's browser: text inputs, email addresses and long digit runs are masked by default, and elements can be hidden or excluded with data attributes. Replays reproduce hover menus, Shadow DOM and CSS-in-JS.
Teams can use the hosted service or self-host the AGPL-3.0 code on a Cloudflare Worker or Node, with recordings in any S3-compatible bucket and session data in D1 or Postgres. Heatmaps, error-only recording and iframe or canvas contents are not yet supported.

- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. The hosted Free plan includes 1,000 sessions a month with 30-day retention and no card needed, and self-hosting is free with no limits.
- Can recordings be stored in my own bucket?
- On Pro and Business, each project can record into your own S3-compatible bucket such as AWS S3, Cloudflare R2 or MinIO. To keep recordings entirely off Replayowl's infrastructure, self-host.
- What happens when I reach my session limit?
- Sessions already recording finish, but new sessions are not recorded until the next month or an upgrade. Existing recordings are not deleted.
- Can I get a refund?
- A full refund is available within 14 days of the first payment of a new subscription by emailing support. Renewals are not refunded.
