About Wan-Animate

Wan-Animate is a web-based AI tool for character animation and character replacement in video. A user uploads one character image and one reference video, chooses a mode, and the service generates a new video in which the character follows the performer's body motion and facial expressions.

Two modes are offered. Move Mode animates the uploaded image using motion extracted from the reference video, while Mix Mode replaces the person in the video with the character and keeps the original movements and expressions. The system uses skeleton signals aligned with the performer for pose guidance, facial features from the source image for expression reenactment, and an auxiliary Relighting LoRA to match the character's lighting and color tone to the scene.

Inputs are limited to videos under 200MB, 2 to 30 seconds long, in mp4, avi or mov format, and images under 5MB. Output is available at 480p or 720p, and generation is billed in credits per second of video. The site links to an official paper, GitHub repository and HuggingFace model and demo, and is aimed at content creators and video editors.
