PNGtoSTL is a web-based converter that turns PNG and JPG images into 3D model files for 3D printing, CNC machining and 3D modeling. It runs in the browser on its own servers, so no software installation or powerful computer is needed, and it exports STL (binary), OBJ and GLB files.
The tool offers three approaches. Heightmap mode maps pixel brightness to height, which suits terrain, relief sculptures and lithophanes. Extrude mode traces edges and creates fixed-height models for logos and simple shapes, with color variants for color-capable printers. AI mode infers depth from a single image or from four views (front, back, left, right) and can generate textured or geometry-only models with optional PBR materials. Settings such as thickness, bevel, smoothing, base thickness and color threshold can be adjusted with a real-time preview.
