About PhotoCraft

PhotoCraft is a free, open-source photo editor that runs in the browser. Its engine is written entirely in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly, so tiles, blending and filters run locally inside the tab without plugins or server round-trips. It offers layers, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles, type, vectors, brushes, clone and content-aware fills, ICC color management, 8/16/32-bit depths and RGB, CMYK, Lab and Grayscale documents.

The editor opens and saves layered PSD files and its own lossless .pcraft format, exports PNG, JPEG and WebP, and imports TIFF, GIF and BMP. Local editing needs no install or account, and the editor can work offline once cached. Every action is a command on a JSON control protocol, enabling CLI batch edits, scripting, and AI agent control via an MCP endpoint for Pro and Team workspaces.

The project is in early alpha and licensed under MIT OR Apache-2.0. It suits people who want to retouch photos or edit PSD files without Photoshop, as well as developers automating image workflows. It belongs to a family of Craft apps that includes video, vector, layout, audio, PDF and CAD tools.
