Idle Pilot keeps a user's Slack or Microsoft Teams presence showing as available during scheduled work hours. It runs from the company's cloud servers rather than the user's computer, so availability continues when the laptop is closed, asleep, offline or turned off.
Setup is a one-time step in desktop Google Chrome using the Idle Pilot extension to link either one Slack workspace or one Microsoft Teams account. After linking, the extension can be removed and the schedule managed from another browser. Users set work hours per day, carve out lunch breaks, set a timezone and use Vacation Mode, which pauses the schedule when the platform status shows away. The schedule can be paused or switched off instantly, returning presence to the platform's normal behavior. Idle Pilot handles presence only: it does not write custom status messages or read chats and files.
The product is aimed at remote workers who want their availability to follow their work hours instead of keyboard activity. Its site notes that employer rules still apply and that availability is not proof of work.
