About HostlessWP
HostlessWP is an open-source command-line tool that moves a running WordPress site onto Cloudflare Workers with one command, keeping its plugins, theme and MySQL database. It runs PHP 8.3 compiled to WebAssembly inside a Worker, without modifying WordPress core, so the site stays dynamic: checkout, comments, search, forms and logins keep working.
Run with npx hostlesswp in the folder holding wp-config.php, the tool checks the site and lists plugins against a tested list, connects the existing MySQL database through Cloudflare Hyperdrive over SSL or a Cloudflare Tunnel, and deploys a copy to a workers.dev test address. Media goes to an S3-compatible bucket such as R2, S3, B2 or MinIO, and logged-out pages are served from a Workers KV cache. The Worker is placed near the database to reduce query latency.
The project targets WordPress site owners who want to stop maintaining a server. It is an early preview (v0.1) licensed GPL-2.0-or-later. Known limits include no plugin installs from the admin, no multisite, no Redis or Memcached object caches, and no Imagick.

- No. Real PHP runs for every request not served from the page cache, so checkout, comments, search, forms and logins keep working.
- Does it change my current site?
- No. It reads your files and database and deploys a copy to a workers.dev test address; your current host keeps serving your domain until you switch it.
- What do I need to use it?
- A Cloudflare account, MySQL with SSL, an S3-compatible bucket for media, and Node.js 20 or newer where you run the command.
- How do I update plugins or WordPress?
- Update them on the source site, then run npx hostlesswp deploy; installing from the Worker's admin is disabled.
