HammerAI is an AI character chat and roleplay platform. Users pick a character from a large catalog sorted by genre and type, or create their own, and chat with it. Beyond one-on-one chat, the platform supports group chats with up to ten characters, story writing, image generation, text-to-speech, lorebooks and personas, plus automatic conversation memory through rolling summaries.
It runs on the web and as a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, and an iOS app is also available. The desktop app can run local models through Ollama, so the language model operates on the user's own machine. Cloud-hosted models run on HammerAI's servers, and by default messages are not saved anywhere except the user's computer. Users can also proxy to any LLM API and adjust samplers such as Min-P, Top-P, Top-K, temperature and repetition penalty.
The project is built by a single developer. Core chat is free, while paid tiers add unlimited cloud messaging, larger context sizes, more cloud models and monthly credits for images and speech.
