Glasscribe is a macOS menu bar app that converts speech to text in real time, with all processing done on the Mac's Neural Engine. Audio is not uploaded, and the app works fully offline without an internet connection. It supports more than 30 languages for recognition and offers offline live translation across 19 languages.
The app can transcribe from the microphone or from system audio, capturing sound from Zoom, YouTube, podcasts and other sources without browser extensions or virtual audio drivers. Transcripts appear in a translucent floating overlay that can be moved and adjusted for opacity, font size and timing. Sessions are saved automatically and can be searched later, and text can be copied and pasted at the cursor in any app. Global hotkeys allow customization.
The site describes use by product managers transcribing meetings, developers dictating specs into their editors, and students reading translated lectures. No account is required.
