Encamera is an encrypted camera and photo vault app for iPhone. Photos and videos taken in the app are encrypted before they reach the device's camera roll, and existing items can be imported from the camera roll into the app's encrypted vault. The app also supports Live Photos and includes a lock screen widget for taking encrypted photos directly.
The encryption technology is open source, so users can verify the security claims themselves. Encrypted content can be stored locally on the device or in iCloud, and the company states that neither it nor Apple can access the content. The vault can be unlocked with a password, PIN or Face ID. The app icon can be hidden or albums disguised for added discretion.
Encamera requires no account and shows no ads. It is aimed at iPhone users who want to keep personal photos and videos private, such as travel, family or fitness progress albums. User reviews mention a monthly or yearly subscription option and direct developer support via Telegram.
