EmailKind
EmailKind
Email classification API: identify the provider behind any email (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, 150+ others), business vs personal, and the company behind the domain. MCP-native.
About EmailKind
EmailKind is an email classification API that identifies what kind of mailbox an address belongs to rather than whether it exists. A single call returns the provider behind the domain (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho and 150+ others), whether the address is business, personal, disposable, education, hosting or self-hosted, a confidence score, and the company that owns a custom domain.
It works through passive DNS analysis of MX and SPF records, matched against a domain database updated daily, so no emails are sent and no mail servers are contacted. It can distinguish free Gmail from Google Workspace, name security gateways such as Proofpoint or Mimecast along with the mailbox provider behind them when SPF reveals it, and normalize Gmail aliases. Official SDKs cover Python, Node.js and Go, and an official MCP server lets tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf call it directly.
Typical uses include qualifying B2B signups, auto-filling company names in a CRM, blocking disposable or role addresses at registration, and segmenting users by email provider. Batch processing, CSV uploads of up to 10,000 emails, webhooks and audit logs are available on paid plans.

EmailKind FAQ
- How is classification different from email verification?
- Verification checks if a mailbox exists via SMTP probes, while EmailKind identifies the provider and address type using only public DNS records. The two are complementary.

- Where does the API run?
- It runs on dedicated infrastructure in Germany, with cached DNS results giving sub-50ms average response times.
